Enlargement of the scrotum occurs with many men as they age. However, I have seen many younger men with a low hanging, enlarged scrotum. The enlargement can cause irritation to the scrotum and upper inner thigh. Some men have discomfort in tight clothes and underpants. Other men may dislike the cosmetic appearance of the hanging scrotum.
I have developed a scrotum reduction procedure that reduces the size of the scrotum while maintaining the normal shape. The incisions are tailored to each patient, since the shape of the scrotum can vary. The incisions are concealed as well as possible, while removing the skin excess. Patients with scrotum enlargement usually have a penoscrotal web, which is corrected at the same time.
The operation is performed as an outpatient in about 11/2 to 2 hours. It is a very safe procedure with very little postoperation discomfort. Most men return to work in 4-5 days. The discomfort is resolved, and the cosmetic appearance is improved
