Women may develop unsightly and uncomfortable clitoral enlargement from birth, hormonal abnormalities, ingesting steroids, and bio-identical hormones. The head (glans) or shaft of the clitoris can be surgically reduced in size while maintaining sensitivity. The clitoral reduction is a very specialized procedure. The erection tissue is removed from inside the clitoral shaft.
The surgery takes about 3-4 hours and is performed as an outpatient. I have performed about sixty clitoral reductions with excellent results. I often also do a labiaplasty at the same time.
If you have any questions about clitoral reduction please feel free to contact Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Gary Alter at his Manhattan, New York or Beverly Hills, California office.
